This is a referral website
Hurstville Kitchen Renovations is a lead referral service. We do not carry out building, carpentry, plumbing, gas fitting, electrical, waterproofing or tiling work ourselves. Enquiries submitted here are referred to the licensed builder we work in partnership with.
Who carries out the work
Renovation work arranged through this site is carried out in partnership with Coastal Renovation Group, a licensed NSW builder. Licence and insurance details are provided on request — on the discovery call, or whenever you ask.
Ask for the licence number before work starts and check it yourself on the NSW public register rather than taking a web page's word for it. Searching a number returns the holder, the class, the status, the expiry date and any disciplinary history. That is a two-minute check and it is worth doing with any trade, not only this one.
The builder issues the quote, holds the contract, performs the work and is responsible for it. Any workmanship warranty is theirs. Where the value of the work requires it, home building compensation cover is arranged by them before a deposit is requested.
What we do not represent
We make no representation that any contractor holds any licence, class or accreditation beyond the builder named above, and we do not monitor insurance on an ongoing basis. Before work starts, ask to see a certificate of currency as well as the licence.
Asbestos
We do not remove asbestos, and asbestos removal is never folded quietly into a renovation scope. It is separately licensed work in NSW and it goes to a separately licensed removalist, quoted separately.
A builder's licence is not an asbestos removal licence. They are different authorisations and holding one says nothing about the other. Much of the housing in this part of Sydney was built or renovated before 1990, when asbestos cement sheeting, vinyl floor coverings and sheet splashbacks were ordinary materials, so the distinction matters here.
If anyone proposes to strip out a pre-1990 kitchen without testing suspect materials first, decline and get a second opinion.
Approvals
Where a job needs owners corporation approval or council consent, the builder can tell you what is usually required based on experience. They cannot grant it and neither can we. Your owners corporation makes strata decisions, and the relevant council — Georges River Council for most of the suburbs covered here, Canterbury-Bankstown or Bayside for streets on the other side of a boundary — makes planning decisions.
Nobody on this site can promise you an approval or a date for one.
Engineered stone
Engineered stone benchtops were banned across Australia from 1 July 2024. Nothing on this site should be read as offering them, and any operator still offering to fabricate or install them should be avoided.
